Request to have a Postal Vote

Applying for a postal vote is changing from 31 October 2023. Postal vote applications received on or after 31 October will not be processed and will be returned to the elector.

If you can't get to your polling station on election day, you don't have to miss your chance to vote. Registered electors can apply to vote by post. 

You must be registered to vote or have recently registered to vote before you can apply for a postal vote. 

From 31 October electors will be able to apply for a postal vote online (opens new window) 

You will need to provide your National Insurance number when applying online or by paper form to prove your identity.

If you wish to vote by post we recommend you register to vote and apply for a postal vote well in advance of election deadlines, in case we need to ask you for additional information to verify your identity.
