The New Attleborough Leisure Centre - First look

CGI film gives sneak peek of new-look leisure centre

Breckland residents are now able to take a virtual look at what Attleborough Leisure Centre could look like once planned expansion and improvement works are completed.

Breckland Council has released a computer-generated virtual tour of how it hopes the redeveloped facility might look in the future, including a preview of the renovated reception, refurbished changing rooms, upgraded sports hall, and new gym equipment.

The film includes a tour of the proposed new spin bike studio which is planned as part of the £2.6m works along with a new community room for yoga sessions, fitness classes and other activities.

The project is being led by Breckland Council, with support from local councillors, Norfolk County Council, Attleborough Town Council, Attleborough Academy, and The Sapientia Trust.

Cllr Alison Webb, Breckland Council's Executive Member for Health, Leisure and Communities, said: "This is a really exciting milestone and brings to life all our plans for the future of the site. Once this major investment is delivered, it will provide our Breckland residents with an enhanced service and place leisure right on Attleborough's high street."

With the project having received the support of Breckland councillors at the end of last year, the district council is currently developing its plans before seeking formal planning permission for the project and appointing contractors.

In a project running alongside this redevelopment scheme, Breckland Council is also working on plans to install a new 3G artificial football pitch at the leisure centre site.

Both the leisure centre expansion and the new football pitch are subject to planning permission being given. If the projects are given the green light by planners later this year, work is expected to start in 2024 and be complete in 2025.
