Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP)
People sleeping rough in Breckland can access emergency accommodation and support during periods of exceptionally cold weather through the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP).
SWEP will be triggered when we expect the forecast to be zero degrees or below for three consecutive nights. We also take into consideration the 'feels like' temperature.
Once a decision has been made to activate SWEP, alongside other partner agencies we ensure that people who are out on the streets are offered emergency accommodation. The person in question must be in agreement with receiving our assistance.
