Report a Death - Benefits
Do you know about theGOV.UK 'Tell us once' service (opens new window), that lets you report a death to most government organisations in one go?
If you have an appointment with us for reporting a death (Benefits/Council Tax), this page is for information that you will need to supply within the appointment.
When reporting a death, we require the following information:
- Deceased name and address
- Date of death
- Claim Reference number
- Council Tax reference number
- Executor name, address and contact number
- Solicitor details
- If the property is owned or rented, if rented name of landlord.
- Whether the property is left occupied and if so the occupiers name and, if they are liable for the council tax, whether they require a single person reduction.
- To be notified when probate is granted or the property is sold or occupied or emptied of furniture.
