Rough sleeping in extreme weather conditions

People sleeping rough in Breckland can access emergency accommodation and support during periods of severe weather conditions such as high wind, heavy rain, snow and heat waves through the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP).

Once a decision has been made to activate SWEP, alongside other partner agencies we ensure that people who are out on the streets are offered emergency accommodation. The person in question must be in agreement with receiving our assistance.

For emergency assistance with finding accommodation please call:

  • 01362 656870 (when calling out of hours you will need to press the option to speak to an out of hours adviser)

Report yourself or someone else as rough sleeping (opens new window)
