31/03/22: Community turns out to support Thetford's Spring Clean
Dozens of Thetford residents and representatives from local community groups have taken part in a litter pick to help tidy and brighten up the town.
The event, which took place on 30 March, was organised by Breckland Council in support of Keep Britain Tidy's national #SpringClean project.
Over 60 bags of litter were collected by the 34 participants, along with three discarded bikes and a mattress.
The event was supported by Thetford Fire brigade, Thetford Town Council, UPP Broadband, Norfolk Waste Partnership, Thetford River Group, and local residents, who all volunteered their time to help reduce the impact of litter on wildlife and the natural environment. The participants were kept well-refreshed thanks to The Brecks Fen Edge & Rivers Partnership who provided everyone with tea and coffee and cakes.
Cllr Sarah Suggitt, Executive Member for Planning, Leisure and Contracts at Breckland Council commented: "We had a great response to the event and I'd like to thank all of the individuals and organisations who came out to support the cause and improve their town with cheer, laughter and passion for their community."
