Referendum on the Necton Neighbourhood Plan
A Referendum relating to the making (agreeing) of the Necton Neighbourhood Plan was held on Thursday September 12 2024
The question asked at the Referendum was:
"Do you want Breckland Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Necton to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?"

A local referendum was held on 12 September 2024 to decide if the Necton Neighbourhood Plan should become part of the council's development plan. The turnout was 17.5 per cent, of which 77 per cent (256) voted in favour of using the Plan to help decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area and 22per cent (74) voted against.

Necton Parish Council have published its pre-submission Plan for consultation. This ended on Monday 22 May 2023.

Examination
The Necton Neighbourhood Plan was subject to an Independent Examination that started in February 2024. The Examiner found that, subject to all of the policies being modified, the plan met the 'basic conditions' and recommended that it proceed to a local referendum. The decision to hold the referendum was agreed on 7 June 2024.
