Breckland Council and The Damara School in Thetford have recently reached an agreement on the lease of a building that will allow the school to continue its important work. The Damara School, which is dedicated to helping children who face challenges in traditional educational environments, will now have access to a new space that will support its mission.

The building, located on Raymond Street, will provide a safe and welcoming environment for students to learn and grow. The Damara School is committed to helping each and every student reach their full potential, and the new facility will allow them to do just that. With the support of Breckland Council, the school will be able to further expand its programs and continue to make a positive impact on the lives of local children.

Cllr Paul Hewett, Executive Member for Property, Projects and Procurement said, "The lease of this building is a testament to the commitment of both Breckland Council and The Damara School to the betterment of the community. With this new partnership, the school will be able to continue providing much-needed services to local children who may have otherwise struggled in traditional educational settings."

Sandra Govender, CEO and Head teacher for The Lotus Academy Trust and The Damara School added,  "We are excited that we are able to secure the Maltings for our school.  We look forward to growing the school to cater for a maximum of 32 children who experience significant difficulties with their social, emotional and mental health.  Our vision remains to support every child with therapeutic and holistic educational and pastoral development to cope with the pressures of life and contribute positively to society."

Cllr Annie Blackbourn and Cllr Hazel McCambridge, Ward Members for Thetford- Castle added "This agreement will provide a much-needed space for young residents to learn and grow, while also benefiting the community as a whole."
