Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO). Have your say!

Consultation is now Closed!

In accordance with the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, a district council may introduce a PSPO in a specific place where there is evidence of anti-social or nuisance behaviour.  The Council must be able to show that the behaviour is having a detrimental effect to the local community's quality of life.  A PSPO will impose conditions on the use of that area and are intended to help ensure that the law- abiding majority can use and enjoy public spaces, safe from anti-social behaviour.

In response to information supplied to us by Norfolk Constabulary and the local community, Breckland are consulting on two PSPO's; the introduction of a new PSPO in Thetford to address vehicle nuisance and the renewal of the Watton street drinking PSPO, each to run for the maximum 3-year period unless further amended or renewed.

Your feedback is important to us and will be used to gauge public support for this approach to tackle the issues in these areas.  Information you provide may also be used to shape the final order.  To take part in either consultation please complete the short survey to tell us about your personal experiences in Thetford or Watton.  The survey consists of multiple-choice questions and shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to complete.

This consultation will run until 5pm on 1st April 2024.  All feedback will be reviewed and recommendations will be shared with all councillors to help inform future decisions concerning the proposed PSPOs
