Following on from the success of previous 'Stage & Screen' festivals in the town, the 'inThetford' festival is set to launch on Friday 02 August, celebrating the town's vibrant history and cultural heritage.  The weekend programme of events brings together partner organisations from across the town, including Breckland Council and Thetford Town Council, alongside businesses, museums, and cultural and conservation organisations.

Young people aged 8-18 are being offered the opportunity to take part in a week-long theatre course at the Carnegie that will culminate in a memorable performance of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" on Friday, 2 August at 6pm.

Saturday will include screenings of "Migration", "Grime's Graves" and some movie nostalgia with "Bill and Ted", alongside hourly drop-in sessions with the British Trust for Ornithology, Thetford River Group, and Environmental Group.

Sunday's outdoor screenings feature "Wish", "The Warrener's Tale", "Perfect Peace", and "Labyrinth," starring David Bowie.  Festivalgoers can also enjoy pop-up brass concerts from Britten Sinfonia, alongside performances from Urban Dance and Ashley Dance.

The Ancient House Museum, English Heritage, the Charles Burrell Museum and Dad's Army Museum will all be involved, generously showcasing Thetford's rich heritage.

Funded by Breckland Council in partnership with Thetford Town Council, the inThetford festival aims to celebrate Thetford's history, foster community spirit, and support local businesses.

Breckland Executive Member for Economic Development and Growth, Councillor Paul Claussen commented: "Thetford has a long tradition of fantastic community and cultural events and the inThetford festival is an exciting new addition to that offering.

"This year's festival brings together the best in film, history, culture, dance and music, to provide residents and visitors alike the opportunity to enjoy Thetford at its best.

"At Breckland Council we know that the best projects and events are delivered when we work in partnership with our town and parish councils, with communities, residents, and with local businesses and organisations.

"I am really looking forward to joining them all in celebrating inThetford and want to thank the staff, businesses, partners and volunteers across Thetford and Breckland that are making this celebration possible."
