Breckland Council is delighted to announce that its Dog Warden Service has been presented with a prestigious platinum PawPrints award by the RSPCA for the second year running. The council has also received a gold award in the Kennelling category.

This national recognition, the only platinum award presented to a Norfolk council, highlights the district council's continuous dedication to the welfare of animals and its commitment to creating a compassionate and responsible community for pet owners.

Breckland Council's Dog Warden Service reunites stray dogs with their loving owners. The service has also been a trailblazer in championing animal welfare initiatives, working tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of pets and stray animals in the district. The efforts have included online educational campaigns and proactive stray dog management.

Cllr Helen Crane, Executive Member for Licensing at Breckland Council, commented: "This national recognition from the RSPCA sets Breckland Council apart as the only council in Norfolk to receive this accolade, underscoring our unwavering commitment to animal welfare and pet owners within the community. We are deeply committed to animal welfare, and this recognition inspires us to continue our efforts to support pet owners and protect the well-being of animals in Breckland."

Lee Gingell, the RSPCA's Public Affairs Manager for Local Government, expressed the organisation's pride in recognising Breckland Council's exceptional efforts. "We are thrilled to recognise Breckland Council with the platinum PawPrints award and gold award in Kennelling in this year's RSPCA PawPrints Awards.

"Their commitment to animal welfare is truly commendable and reflects the high standards that the PawPrints awards aim to celebrate. By winning these awards, Breckland Council has demonstrated outstanding dedication to protecting, promoting and enhancing animal welfare, and we hope their achievements inspire others to strive for excellence in this vital area."
