Breckland Council is pleased to announce the successful allocation of £26,885 in the latest round of the Inspiring Communities Match-Funding grants. These grants will support local community projects that align with the priorities of the Inspiring Communities programme and the Breckland Health and Wellbeing Partnership. The funding is dedicated to initiatives that aim to address vulnerability, support disadvantaged community members, and enhance overall health and wellbeing in Breckland.

The Inspiring Communities programme prioritises projects focusing on domestic abuse, mental health, social isolation, and early intervention efforts that help prevent crises. Similarly, the Breckland Health and Wellbeing Partnership is committed to improving residents' health by addressing health inequalities, with a focus on cardiovascular disease prevention, mental health support, and tackling alcohol dependency issues.

The six organisations receiving funding in this round are:

  • Attleborough Town Council: Awarded £5,000 to contribute to the first-year costs of a new youth provision in Attleborough.
  • Breckland Children's Clothes Bank: Awarded £4,500 to assist with core costs that enable Breckland Children's Clothes Bank to continue and grow its provision across Breckland.
  • Fountain Of Life Church: Awarded £5,000 to support the work of the mid-Norfolk Debt Centre.
  • Menscraft: Awarded £5,000 to deliver the Pit Stop programme in Watton, Thetford and Dereham.
  • Norfolk Clubhouse: Awarded £2,470 to fund an additional weekly session for members, old and new, of the Norfolk Clubhouse Watton Hub, engaging with adults with chronic mental health needs.
  • The Horticulture Industry Scheme CIC (THIS): Awarded £4,915 to support the 'Social Gardens' project which carries out garden transformations for vulnerable residents in Thetford and surrounding areas.

Cllr Tristan Ashby, Executive Member for Health & Communities, said: "At Breckland, we're proud to invest in initiatives that make a real difference to our communities. Through our Inspiring Communities Match Funding Grant Scheme, we are providing each of these organisations with the resources and tools they need to reach more people and expand on the vital work they are doing. Breckland will continue to support lifechanging projects that help to build a healthier, happier district."
