15/11/2024: Council's new-look website set to make services even more accessible
Breckland Council has relaunched its website, with a new look that's designed to be more user-friendly and accessible for residents, businesses, and visitors to the district.
Following a review of how the existing website was most used and thorough user-testing with members of the public, the new website makes accessing information about local services quicker and easier than ever. The new site is part of the council's ongoing commitment to evolving its services and improving people's access to the support they need.
The website's new features include:
- Access services and information more easily: The council has redesigned the homepage to make it clearer and simpler to find what people most often need. Key services and information are now easier to access, saving people time.
- More mobile-friendly design: The new website is fully optimised for mobile devices, meaning it works just as well on phones or tablets, which is increasingly how people browse online. This makes it easier for people to access council services on the go, whenever they are needed.
- Designed to be accessible for all: The new website meets the latest accessibility standards, so everyone in the community can use it without difficulty.
- Helpful features: The council has carried over helpful features from the old website, like the AI Chatbot, which can guide users through the website and answer questions at any time of the day. An accessibility toolbar is also available, which lets people customise their browsing experience - as well as the website's language.
Cllr Alison Webb, Breckland Council's Executive Member for Customer & Corporate Services, said: "I'm delighted by the launch of our new website, which is an important step forward in making our online services easier for everyone in Breckland to use. With this website, we are making it easier for people to find the information they need, when they need it.
"At Breckland, we're proud to achieve great value for the community, which is why we partnered with a trusted company, GOSS, to help us manage our online services and create this new website. Having worked with GOSS before, they were familiar with our systems and ethos which helped make this project run as efficiently as possible without sacrificing quality."
The council's website continues to be accessible via www.breckland.gov.uk. The council plans to roll out further updates and improvements in the future.
