28/04/2025: Breckland Residents Urged to Continue Supporting Ukrainian Guests Amid Ongoing Crisis

As the war in Ukraine continues to dominate global headlines and tentative peace negotiations appear set to begin, Breckland Council is reminding local residents that there is still — and will remain — a pressing need to provide safe homes for our Ukrainian guests.
While many Ukrainian families have found refuge and support in Breckland since the conflict began, the situation in their homeland remains uncertain. Until it is safe for them to return, Breckland Council is issuing a call to action, asking local residents to consider becoming hosts for Ukrainian families in need.
For those who have previously hosted, we invite you to consider getting involved once again to help meet the ongoing demand for accommodation. By stepping forward to offer your support, you can play a vital role in ensuring that Ukrainian guests continue to feel safe and secure during this difficult time.
Councillor Tristan Ashby, Breckland's Executive Member for Health and Communities, said:
"The kindness and generosity shown by Breckland residents towards our Ukrainian guests has been truly inspiring. However, as the situation remains uncertain, there is still a need for safe, supportive homes for these families. By continuing to open your hearts and homes, you can make a real difference. Whether you have sponsored a Ukrainian family before or are considering it for the first time, you can make a real difference."
If you would like to offer support by becoming a host or are interested in hosting again, please visit Breckland's webpage on the Ukraine War for more information and to get involved.
