Some forms of noise nuisance can be resolved simply by speaking to the parties involved and making them aware of the issue.

• Dog barking or animal noises
• Bird scarers (register a bird scarer)
• DIY noise
• Machinery noise
• Loud music

We can conditionally investigate

• Building and construction work
  • If outside of 07:30 to 18:00 (Monday to Friday), 08:00 to 13:00 (Saturday), or on Sundays and bank holidays
• Licensed premises (pubs and clubs)
  • If you consider the noise unreasonable or detrimental to your property and/or health
• Shop, business and factory noise

We cannot investigate

• Aircraft noise
  • Direct civil aircraft noise complaints to theCivil Aviation Authority (opens new window).

  • Call 101 to complain about noise from police helicopters.
