04/07/17: Housing boost for Breckland village
4 July 2017
An existing housing development in a rural Breckland village is to be extended, offering more opportunities to prospective homeowners.
The announcement comes during Rural Housing Week (3-7 July), during which councils, housing associations and rural communities up and down the country celebrate how new housing can breathe life into rural communities and support local services.
Three extra new homes will be built alongside the 11 homes which were recently completed on Burghwood Drive, in Mileham. They will be delivered by Breckland Bridge, the joint venture partnership between Breckland Council and development experts The Land Group. The partnership recently completed the initial 11 homes on the site, including 4 shared-ownership houses, with the first homeowners expected to move in over the next few weeks.
Work on the three new houses, which will comprise a 3-bed home and a pair of two-bed homes, will begin later this year.
Cllr Gordon Bambridge, Breckland Council Executive Member for Growth said: "I'm pleased to see the continuation of an exciting project that enables more families to move into brand new homes. Not only are the housing needs of local people being met but the businesses in Mileham and the surrounding area will benefit from welcoming new customers on their doorsteps. Housing developments like this are helping to create more sustainable, long-term communities in our district."
The 14 houses which form the development will all have been built on Breckland Council-owned land.
