18/05/18: Roll up and join the Our Breckland Lottery
18 May 2018
More than 1,000 Our Breckland Lottery tickets are now being sold each week, following the launch of the lottery on March 31. At the current rate, this means that around £30,000 could be raised through the year for local good causes who are registered as beneficiaries of the community lottery, as players can choose to allocate 50p from their £1 ticket to support local organisations.
So far, 117 players have won prizes ranging from three free tickets to a future lottery draw to £250 cash prizes, though no-one as yet has managed to match the six consecutive numbers required to claim the £25k weekly top prize.
The Our Breckland Lottery was set up by Breckland Council to provide the district's charities and community organisations with a unique, simple way to raise additional funds and local groups who have not yet registered as a beneficiary are being encouraged to sign up to the scheme, which they can do at any time. There is no cost involved in registering.
To mark the first three months of the lottery, the draw on June 30 will offer an additional bonus prize bundle of family tickets to local attractions such as Banham Zoo, Go Ape and Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure for the lucky winner to enjoy over the coming summer months.
Cllr Paul Claussen, Breckland Council Executive Member for Place, said: "We are really excited to be able to offer this type of fundraising opportunity to our local charities and community organisations, and hope they take advantage of it. The great thing is, not only are players supporting worthwhile local good causes with every £1 ticket bought, but they are also in with a chance of winning a significant cash prize, so everybody wins."
How the 'Our Breckland Lottery' works
For every £1 ticket sold:
- 50p goes to local good causes that are signed up to Our Breckland Lottery
- 10p goes to a general fund, which Breckland Council will distribute locally as grants
- 20p goes to the lottery prize fund
- 20p goes towards running costs
The Our Breckland Lottery aims to help raise awareness of the work of local good causes. By promoting the lottery to their supporters and members, and engaging their local community, organisations can increase the amount of money they receive through ticket sales.
Prize draws are held weekly and tickets are only available online. Visit www.ourbrecklandlottery.co.uk to buy tickets and follow @OurBreckland on Twitter and Facebook to keep up to date with the latest news and results.
