What is an Interim Authority Notice (in the event of death, incapacity or insolvency of a Premises Licence holder)

A notice can be given where a licence has lapsed due to the death, incapacity or insolvency of a Premises Licence holder and no application has been made to transfer the licence.

When an Interim Authority Notice (IAN) is granted business can continue as normal until the licence is transferred. You must contact Breckland Council within 28 days after the day the licence has lapsed and the person giving notice must have a prescribed interest in the premises (meaning the leaseholder) or be connected to the previous licence holder.

In order to apply for an IAN, please use our online form.

You are able to notify us of bankruptcy, death of a licence holder or report a conviction or offence using ourLicensing Act Notification form.

When completing our online form a card payment is required. We accept most major debit and credit cards.
