What is an Interim Authority Notice (in the event of death, incapacity or insolvency of a Premises Licence holder)

A notice can be given where a licence has lapsed due to the death, incapacity or insolvency of a Premises Licence holder and no application has been made to transfer the licence.

When an Interim Authority Notice (IAN) is granted business can continue as normal until the licence is transferred. You must contact Breckland Council within 28 days after the day the licence has lapsed and the person giving notice must have a prescribed interest in the premises (meaning the leaseholder) or be connected to the previous licence holder.
