Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL)
Breckland Council has not introduced the CIL and currently raises money for infrastructure requirements resulting from new developments through section 106 agreements.
CIL is a voluntary method for local authorities to raise funds for infrastructure within their District through new developments. Further information on the CIL can be found on thePlanning Portal Website (opens new window).
Between 2012 and 2013, Breckland Council carried out consultation on the possible introduction of CIL within the local authority.
In July 2014, Breckland Cabinet resolved to "halt the production of CIL at the present time, keep a watching brief on the CIL regulations, and authorise the Executive Member for Assets & Strategic Development and the Leader to recommence the process if the situation changed."
