Keeping warm and well

There are a number of ways to keep warm and well this winter, with low to freezing temperatures, it's just as important to keep safe and warm while out and about and within your own home.

 Out and about

  • Checking public transport (bus and trains) before you travel.
  • Be aware of the changeable weather conditions throughout the day.
  • Have additional items in your car such as blankets, a few non-perishable food items in case your vehicle breaks down, or you become stuck due to weather conditions, and cannot be rescued/continue your journey for a number of hours.
  • For businesses - Consider gritting outside your premises, to protect both your staff and customers during the winter months.

Inside a house

There are a couple of ways to keep warmer within your own home which does not have to cost a fortune.

  • Reducing drafts inside your home through using blankets and old curtains around doors which lead to the outside.
  • Keeping your heating on a constant low (around 18 degrees) to keep the cold off the property.
  • Keep internal doors within your property closed to help reduce drafts.
