Report artificial light nuisance

If you are being affected by a light pollution issue, first consider approaching the business or neighbour to advise them of the problem, if safe to do so. They may not be aware that the light from their premises is affecting you. Customers who are tenants of housing associations can also report issues to their landlords. These may lead to the problem being resolved swiftly and informally.

Please note that under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, members of the public can take private action in the magistrates’ court against the party responsible for causing the problem.

If talking to the business or neighbour or landlord hasn’t worked, or if you do not wish to take your own private action, you can report the issue to the Council by completing the form below.

  - Street lighting
  - Railway premises
  - Bus stations and associated facilities
  - Goods vehicle operating centres
  - Prisons
  - Premises occupied for defence purposes
  If your complaint is in relation to any of the above, you should contact the responsible parties directly.
  
  In the case of street lighting, this will be Norfolk County Council.
