30/11/23: New waste contract agreed between Norfolk Councils
Breckland Council Business Waste service has announced the acquisition of a new waste contract with Thetford Town Council. Commencing on December 1, this partnership will cover waste collection from Thetford Town Council's events, offices, and key sites, including the upcoming Continental Market from November 30th to December 3rd, and incorporating the festive Christmas Lights Switch-On on December 1st.
This newly secured contract spans not only trade waste but also recycling services across two Thetford Town Council primary sites, ensuring regular collections and introducing an enhanced approach to managing waste. The new contract also cements both organizations' commitment to bolster sustainability efforts and reduce their carbon footprint.
Cllr Helen Crane, Executive Member for Waste at Breckland Council, expressed her enthusiasm for this new collaboration, commenting: "We are thrilled to embark on this new venture with Thetford Town Council. This partnership not only ensures efficient waste management but also aligns with our sustainability goals, promoting responsible, flexible waste disposal and significantly reducing operational costs."
Cllr Terry Land at Thetford Town Council commented: " Our new waste contract offers an improved service for less outlay - a real win for the people of Thetford."
