01/12/2023: Breckland Council welcomes Safer Streets funding for Street Wardens
The Police and Crime Commissioner for Norfolk, Giles Orpen-Smellie, has secured over £900,000 of Safer Streets funding from the Home Office, a move welcomed by Breckland Council for its substantial impact on local community safety. This funding is set to bolster 17 crucial initiatives aimed at addressing neighbourhood crime, violence against women and girls, and anti-social behaviour.
"This funding signifies a vital step toward creating safer environments within our communities," commented Cllr Tristan Ashby, Executive Cabinet Member from Breckland Council. "We commend the commitment shown by Giles Orpen-Smellie in prioritising community safety. The allocation of funding towards employing new Breckland Street Wardens underscores our shared dedication to ensuring a secure and vibrant local community for all residents and businesses."
