Private Water Supplies Sampling Terms and Conditions

This agreement is made between the relevant person ("you") and Breckland Council ("the council") and sets out the terms and conditions under which the you may use the council's Private Water Supplies Sampling Service ("the service")

  1. The cost of Private Water Supplies Sampling includes (where applicable) the taking of, collection of the sample/s and laboratory analysis. The cost is as quoted in writing by an officer.

  2. No sampling or associated services will be provided without the necessary payment in full. This must be received prior to the service being provided.

  3. A refund will be given if the service is cancelled within 14 days of payment (Legal please advise if we need to include the 14 day period due to online selling regs/ credit card cooling off period. It is not practical for our us though as appointments are often made less than 14 days in advance) No refunds will be given after this period.

  4. Service rates will be reviewed annually and communicated to you at least 14 days prior to the serive being provided.

  5. When you sign up to the service, it may take up to 10 working days to process your request.

  6. An officer will contact you to arrange a convenient date and time for sampling to take place following payment.

  7. Safe access and egress must be given to the officer to enable water samples to be taken at the point of use, typically the kitchen. You must make us/the visiting officer aware of any hazards/instructions to be followed prior to the visit, so these can be considered, ensure there is adequate preparation and all necessary actions complied with. If we decide that it is unsafe/additional precautions are required, we reserve to postpone or cancel the visit without any notice. This is necessary for Health & Safety and public protection reasons.

  8. No refund will be given if the officer is unable to enter the property to take a water sample on the agreed date with you.

  9. An officer will provide you with a copy of your water sampling results as soon as is reasonably practicable, along with any recommendations.

10. You may be required to take action if the results of water sampling exceed the maximum limits as stipulated in the Private Water Supplies (England) Regulations 2016 As Amended.

11. In the event of exceptional circumstances, we reserve the right to vary the service and re-schedule sampling. Prior notification of a change will be provided where possible.

12.In order to provide services to you, we need to record your details, which you have the right to see and check. We will process and safeguard your details in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018
