Breckland Council is pleased to announce the launch of new electric vehicle (EV) charging points in Watton and Swaffham. This marks a significant step forward in the availability of  sustainable travel throughout the district.

The charging points, located at Kittell Close Car Park in Watton, and Theatre Street Car Park in Swaffham, are now fully operational and capable of serving up to four vehicles at a time.

Electric vehicle charging points have previously been installed in four of Breckland's market towns, and this new round of installations will increase accessibility to 6 points across the district. The new charging points have been strategically placed to compliment the existing private sector offering along with off street charging options.

Helen Crane, Breckland Council's Executive Member for Waste, Environmental Health, Licensing and Sustainability, said: "The installation of these new charging points addresses the growing demand for EV infrastructure, making it easier for residents and visitors to recharge their vehicles while shopping or exploring our towns. This not only supports our environmental goals but also enhances the overall convenience and appeal of visiting Breckland."

The installation work has been delivered in partnership with Charge Point Operator Mer and UK Power Networks.
