Private Hire Operator

All Private Hire Operators must be licensed by Breckland Council. This ensures passengers are confident of using a reputable company with reliable drivers and vehicles. A Private Hire Vehicle must be driven by a licensed driver working for a Private Hire Operator. A Private Hire Operators Licence is issued for five years.

Please be aware applications without all supporting documents will not be accepted.

If you do not wish to apply online you can complete and submit thePrivate Hire Operator renewal licence application form and above documents by email to licensing.team@breckland.gov.uk or post and we will contact you to arrange payment of the fee.

It is illegal for a driver to refuse to carry a guide or assistance dog unless the driver has a medical exemption certificate issued by the Council. Following a conviction at the Magistrates Court, drivers that refuse to carry a guide or assistance dog and do not have an exemption certificate could face a fine of up to £1,000
