Custom Build/Self-Build Registration process

Register of custom and self-build house building interest

Breckland Council is required to maintain a register of people who are interested in custom or self-build projects in the Breckland District. Keeping this register helps us understand the level of demand for custom and self-build plots.

The register is separated into two parts:

  • Part 1 - for people with a local connection to the District (i.e. they live or work in the Breckland Council District) and meet the basic eligibility
  • Part 2 - for people who do not have a local connection but meet the basic eligibility

Please note: Anyone who is in the service of the regular armed forces of the Crown is deemed to satisfy the connection test, and anyone who has previously served in the armed forces will be deemed to satisfy the connection test for a period of five years after leaving service. This does not include the Territorial Army (Army Reserves).

By signing up, you will help us find out more about the demand for custom and self build plots in Breckland, including what sort of plot people would like, where people would like their plot to be and the type of home that they would like to build.

We will use the information to explore ways in which it might be possible for people and plots to be brought together.

Registration does not guarantee that a suitable plot will become available for each individual listed on the register.
