Community Car Schemes

What is a Community Car Scheme?

Breckland Council works in partnership with local town and parish councils to provide grants to enable the provision of Community Car Schemes. The schemes provide transport for residents who would otherwise be unable to make essential medical journeys. Volunteer drivers use their own cars and a small fare is typically payable by the passenger. Drivers are subject to DBS and medical checks.

2025/26 Grant Applications

Community Car Scheme grant applications closes on Friday 21 February 2025.

Applications received after this date may not be assessed or awarded.

Timescale Guideline:

• February 2025: Grant applications received
• March 2025: Grant applications reviewed and awarded
• April 2025: Schemes start
