Gas safety
Gas safety in kitchens
Restaurants, pubs, hotels and other businesses with commercial kitchens have a duty to make sure that their gas appliances are safe. All work on gas installations in catering premises must only be done by a competent gas engineer registered withThe Gas Safe Register (opens new window).
The Gas Safe Register replaced CORGI on the 1 April 2009. If you need to have any work done on your gas appliances, always check that the engineer is competent to do it by asking to see their Gas Safe Register ID Card before allowing them to start the work. Do not allow them to work on your appliance if they cannot show you their card.
You can alsofind or check a business or engineer (opens new window).

Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) bulk installations
To reduce the risk of an incident the UK LPG industry and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) strongly believe that underground metallic pipe work should be replaced with pipe work made from materials such as polyethylene (plastic) which won't corrode.
Replacing buried metallic pipe work/fittings at commercial and industrial premises throughout the UK is a major undertaking and therefore needs to be prioritised based on the risk of pipeline failure and LPG entering a nearby building. Breckland has worked closely with the HSE and LPG suppliers to identify and prioritise the replacement of these types of buried service pipes.
