Virtual Town Hall

Breckland Council's Leader is inviting residents in the area to attend an upcoming 'virtual town hall' event and to take the opportunity to ask him questions about what matters most to them.

The online event is being organised in partnership between Breckland Council and the Eastern Daily Press (EDP) newspaper to provide an opportunity for residents to engage directly with elected officials and ask questions about key local issues.

During the live event, Cllr Sam Chapman-Allen, Leader of Breckland Council, will take questions from Ian Clarke, the EDP's Executive Editor.

To help shape the interview questions, members of the public are being invited to submit suggested questions in advance of the meeting directly to the EDP. The EDP's independent journalists will then select the key questions or those with a common theme to ask during the meeting, alongside their own questions. There will also be an opportunity for residents to submit additional questions during the meeting, as time allows. The questions asked during the meeting will be managed by the EDP's journalists - councillors and council staff will not have control over which questions are asked during the event.

Cllr Sam Chapman-Allen, Leader of Breckland Council, commented: "In the past, I have met with residents and business owners in local town halls, on our high streets and at local events and they have always proven to be invaluable. These discussions provide an opportunity for people to ask me about key issues impacting their towns and villages, their lives and their livelihoods, and I get to talk to them about what we're doing as a council to make Breckland a thriving place to live and work.

"This virtual town hall event will take that same concept online, so as many people as possible can take part from the comfort of their own homes. I hope as many people as possible up and down the district take up this opportunity to attend and get involved by submitting questions on anything they want to hear more about."

How to take part

The virtual town hall event will be held 6-7pm on Tuesday, 4 March.

It will take place online via a Microsoft Teams teleconference meeting, with a recording made available after the event for those unable to watch live.

Residents can sign up to attend the online meeting by completing the registration form below. You will be sent an email with a link to join the meeting around 24 hours before the event. If the form below isn't showing for you, you can also sign up via this registration form page.

Attendees can join the meeting via computer or smartphone. However, you may wish to consider downloading the official Microsoft Teams app and signing in with an existing or new Microsoft account in advance of the meeting, in order to avoid any delays in being able to join the meeting.
